Welcome back! We hope that you had a lovely half term break. This term, we have lots of exciting activities planned! Our new topic is Space and below you will find an overview of what we will be learning about.
This term we will naming and practising basic movements, stretches and balances whilst negotiating space safely in the hall. We will also be using simple apparatus like mats and benches. We may play games such as ‘pass the planet’ (building coordination and teamwork skills).
Please ensure that all items of clothing are named clearly to avoid any mix ups.
We will continue to learn our single sounds in preparation for reading through the scheme Read Write Inc. We will be practising our blending and segmenting of CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words (cat, pin, tap). The children will also begin to read red words (words that cannot be sounded out phonetically like ‘I’, ‘to’ and ‘the’)
We will start writing labels, captions and lists for our role play areas using our phonic knowledge and use of red words.
Please continue to support your child in recognising and writing their name.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
We will reinforce the class rules and how to manage our behaviour in line with our class promise:
In our circle times, we will be focussing on our whole school value: Care and Friendships.

We will be talking about our new topic, Space. What would it be like going into space? What would you take with you? How could you get there?
We will be reading a range of books linked to Space and children will be asked to retell and recall a simple story using sequencing.
In Maths we will be:
