Centenary of the FIRST WORLD WAR: 1914-2014

Armistice Day: Tuesday, 11th November

During our special themed day, a variety of activities took place, including writing Remembrance poetry, making Remembrance cakes and constructing a deserted World War 1 village out of clay.

Every child in the school made a poppy using a variety of materials, such as fabric and paper. Some of the poppies were stitched and some had buttons or sequins as embellishments. We ended the day with an amazing variety of poppies of different shapes and sizes. The completed poppies have now been displayed in the school hall, entitled: ‘Field of Poppies’. We think our display looks fantastic and we are hopeful that it provides a similar effect to the art installation at the Tower of London!

We would like to say a Big Thank You to all the parents who either donated materials or helped in any way on the day.

Here are some photographs to show our activities.
