Welcome to the summer term!
We have attached the Summer Term Overview “Giants”, which you can also see on our Year 1 website page. We have changed our classroom role play areas to Giant's castles.
Again, we would also like to ask for any cards, paper or envelopes that you do not need to be used at our writing tables. These resources will support the children in their free writing (letters to Giants and other characters from traditional tales and stories; information writing about Julia Donaldson; creative writing etc).
Please continue to read with your child daily. Recent studies have continued to support the understanding that reading for 5 minutes a day can have a huge impact on your child’s reading progress, whereas reading infrequently for longer periods does not hold the same benefits. Books need to be in book bags every day. Please also ensure that you write a short comment in their blue reading books regularly.
Spelling homework is set every Monday and due in every Monday. Weekly homework will be set and handed out on Tuesday. They will also be due in on Mondays. We will focus most often on Phonics learning and Maths. We are happy to chat about ways that you can help at home.
On Tuesday afternoons, we would like to continue to provide more art and craft activities for the children (such as sewing and weaving). We hope to begin these activities next week. If any adults could spare a Tuesday to help us with these activities, we would be extremely grateful.
We thank you for your continued support. As always, please feel free to talk to us about any concerns or queries that you have in the morning before school. We are also happy to arrange appointments for after school.
Miss Brannigan Mrs Lewis Mrs Brown.
