Towards the end of the Autumn term, Year 3 started to look at bones and healthy bodies. This is a particularly interesting topic as the children were able to research the major organs and their functions. They also had the opportunity to get involved in a practical experiment about the digestive system using tights and Weetabix! Undoubtedly, the highlight was a visit by a local dentist and his team of oral hygienists who gave an instructive talk about teeth and how important it is to care for them and brush them for at least 2 minutes.
Linked to the body we have looked at the sculptor Alberto Giacometti and his works that focused on different body positions. After striking a pose we then shaped our own modern day wire version and wrapped pipe cleaners around the body shape. Take a look at the finished results!
