Autumn Term Overview

Our topic for the first few weeks will be ‘Nursery Rhymes’ as the children settle into the school routine. We will then move onto ‘People Who Help Us’ up to half term.

PE kits are to be kept in school throughout the term. We only send them home at the end of each half term to be washed. Please ensure that earrings are removed and long hair is tied back. To prepare your child for our PE sessions, please encourage them to dress and undress themselves independently.

We will begin teaching single sounds in the next few weeks. We will be teaching skills such as blending and segmenting in preparation for reading. We will be hosting a phonics evening for parents to attend later in this half term. This will provide you with more information about how to support your child with their reading.

We will be having weekly circle time sessions where we will be focussing on our Route to Resilience words:

Please ensure that your child has a pair of wellington boots in a named carrier bag that can stay at school on their peg so that they can access our Mud Kitchen. We can provide your child with a waterproof overall to wear, but wellingtons are essential!
