Friday 17 September
Wow, our first full time week together – we have been busy! We are so impressed by how well the children are adapting to school life with getting used to our routines and becoming familiar with the adults in the room.
This week we have continued with our Marvellous Me topic by using pastels to create our self-portraits ready for our display board in the classroom. In PSHE we have been thinking about what makes us special and practicing our speaking and listening skills to share these wonderful traits with our friends.
We have all been kept very busy with our baseline assessments which the children have all willingly participated in. These assessments help us to understand where the children are with any sound recognition (it doesn’t matter if they don’t know any yet, they will very soon!), counting, fine motor and physical skills. Next week we will start with our phonics and maths teaching which we are sure the children will all very much enjoy. We have sent home some phonics information with your child today, as well as popped a presentation onto the website (you can access it here) – please do let us know if you have any questions.
Well done again children – we are so pleased at how well you are settling into school life. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
