Please note this was the page for children starting school in August 2021 - a new page for children starting school in September 2022 will follow in due course. Current staff throughout school have until the end of May 2022 to hand in their notice and so decisions for staffing next year cannot be made until after this time. Details of staffing with photographs etc will be posted here and the teaching staff involved will arrange initial visits to your child's pre-school setting.
In a couple of weeks, the school office will be in touch with further details and any forms that you are required to complete and return to the school office.
If your child has any Special Educational Need or Disability, please do contact the school office on 01858 462528 and they will arrange for the School SENCO/EYFS Lead to contact you directly.
We are looking forward to meeting you all and wish you all the best for the final summer term at your child's pre-school setting.
If you are currently in EYFS with Mrs Baldwin and Mrs Loomes please go to the Early Years Foundation Stage 2021-22 page for our latest updates.

Congratulations on getting a place at our school and a huge welcome to you all to the Little Bowden Family!
You will be split into two classes for things like the register, some lesson introductions, parent/teacher meetings. However, most of the time we operate as one larger 'bubble' and the children mix freely with each other throughout our indoor and outdoor classroom spaces. Although you will be assigned to one teacher and assistant, all of the staff work with all of the children on various tasks.
Mrs Baldwin and Mrs Loomes have been into school to set up the classroom and you can see that the desks are now arranged in groups compared to the desks in the video that had to be forward facing. This will make it so much easier for us to work in groups.
In order to ensure a smooth transition for your child starting school in September, we will be having staggered sessions for their first few weeks of the term. This reduces the number of children in the class initially so that it is less overwhelming for them. The children will be split into two groups depending on their date of birth called 'younger' or 'older.' The school office will have already emailed you to advise which group your child is in and will have included a timetable setting out when your child’s sessions will be.
The school office will also have let you know when your individual time on Wednesday 25th August, Thursday 26th or Friday 27th is for you to visit for an initial ‘Stay and Play’ session with your child. We are happy to welcome both parents with their child. During this session, you will have the chance to explore the inside and outside classroom, have a play in the setting, take your own child to the toilet to familiarize them with the facilities and to have a chat with your child’s class teacher.
In terms of uniform, please wear the school uniform for your 'Stay and Play' session, as we’re sure you will want to take lots of photos of their first day! . From the week commencing September 20th your child may come already dressed in their P.E. kit and trainers every Monday and Wednesday and school uniform the rest of the week.
During the summer you may want to make a scrapbook about your family, hobbies, pets, day trips or holidays etc to bring into school and keep in you drawer to share with your new friends and teachers.
If any of you, your parents or grandparents love gardening there is a bay marked EYFS in the school garden and you are welcome to visit it during the summer holiday and plant anything you like and look after it during the summer. Take some photos during the summer to ‘Show and Tell’ your new class about. Mrs Loomes has already been for a visit and planted some new things!
The PTA have kindly bought a book bag for each of you that we will be giving out at the start of term.
Any queries please contact the school office: firstname.lastname@example.org
We are really looking forward to your first visit. Have a really lovely summer holiday.
The EYFS Team.
