We had a wonderful week with the children in full time last week. The whole Reception Team are so proud of how well the children are already adapting to the new routines and environment. We have been assigned our own 2 dining supervisors for playtimes at lunch times to help the children feel happy and secure - Mrs McCarthy (who is also in the classroom 3 mornings a week) and Mrs Mitton. The children will be provided with a glass of water in the dinner hall and if they empty their drink bottles at other times of the day, we will fill them up again. Don't forget to share the lunch menus on the school website and discuss which choice your child would like each day.
Last week we have begun work on our 'Marvellous Me' topic and have been drawing self portraits using chalk and oil pastels - we had great fun using mirrors to see exactly what we look like, to help us choose colours carefully. We explored the school premises a little more with a tour of the school. This week we will be learning more about skin tones and finishing our self portraits.
This week we will also begin our formal phonic lessons with Fred the Frog and will be starting work on zero in maths and learning about subtilising amounts of 1, 2 and 3. Look out for our phonic homework sheets coming home each time we learn a new sound.
On Tuesday we chatted to the children about not looking under toilet doors at other children! We have linked this to a lesson we cover in PSHE from the NSPCC about PANTS. You may wish to watch the song again with your child at home - here is the link:
We have some lovely photographs to share with you. Please could everyone return any outstanding 'Photograph Permission' forms, so that we can post the photos on here, minus any children who can't be in them. Many thanks.
It was lovely to see so many of you on Wednesday at one of our 'Meet the Teacher' sessions. We have added the presentation onto our webpage, incase you couldn't make it. If you have any questions, you are very welcome to catch us at the gate before/after school.
