We hope you all had a lovely 'Father's Day' weekend and liked your cards and hearts, that the children worked so hard on.
This week we are working very hard on our writing skills, to get ready for Year 1! We will start the week with writing our weekend news. Then we will be writing sentences based on the books 'That's not my mermaid' and 'That's not my pirate.' We will be learning about adjectives and the best ones to put in our sentences. We will be using the writing checklist to make sure we have remembered all the non-negotiables ready for Year One e.g. start with a capital letter, end with a full stop/question mark/exclamation mark, leave finger spaces between words, re-read to check that it makes sense.
In phonics we will be revising all the set 1 and set 2 sounds that we have covered so far. We will be reading and spelling 3, 4 and even 5 letter words containing these sounds. Keep practising reading and spelling the red words too at home!
In our main Maths Maths we will be halving to share objects. In our 'whizzy' maths sessions in the afternoons, we will re-cap our work on recalling one less than a given number to 20 and will be having ;lots of fun counting the pom poms on the strings. We are getting really good at counting accurately to beyond 100!
We will be completing our sea creatures painting for our new display. All of our usual continuous provision like the creation station, mud kitchen, scooters, climbing frame, loose parts play, construction etc will also be carrying on as normal. We have some exciting den building challenges planned too!
