The children are really enjoying having some extra playground space dedicated to the bikes, trikes and scooters!
This week we will be continuing to find out facts about dinosaurs. This will link to our work in English as we will be continuing to label the parts of different dinosaurs. We will also be writing our weekend news and sentences with 'ar' words in.
Our new phonic sound will be 'ar' and we will send home a copy off the related RWinc sheet for you. At home it will be really helpful to do some daily practise with your flashcards of all the set 1 and set 2 sounds that we have covered so far. We will be reading and spelling 3, 4 and even 5 letter words containing these sounds. keep practising reading and spelling the red words too.
In Maths we will be counting, adding and subtracting dinosaurs. Some of the children found counting drawn objects between 11-20 that do not move more tricky last week. So we have been modelled crossing them off as each one is counted, to keep track of which ones have been counted and which ones still need to be counted. We will also be focussing on number 10 this week and different ways of making it. In our 'whizzy' maths sessions in the afternoons, we will re-cap 3-D shape names and properties.
We will be starting some new artwork on dinosaurs involving printing with paint this week.
All of our usual continuous provision like the creation station, mud kitchen, scooters, climbing frame, loose parts play, construction etc will also be carrying on as normal. As the weather improves and most children choose to spend more time in our outdoor classroom in continuous provision, you may want to purchase a hat that they can wear. Don't forget to label it. Also it may be worth purchasing suitable sun cream. There are products that last 7+ hours that you can apply before school. Otherwise if you are sending your child with suncream to re-apply, you will need to make sure that it is very clearly labelled, especially with Covid-19 so that they do not use others and you will need to teach them how to apply the suncream themselves.
