Our topic this term is ‘Flight’, we would like you to complete the activities below over the next few weeks:
History Research Amelia Earhart and create a timeline of the major events in her life. What else was going on in the world at this time? Can you plot Amelia's life against other world events, to put her life into wider historical context? Use the Amelia Earhart PowerPoint to help you. |
Design and Technology Put your DT skills to good practical use and help our garden birds! Make a bird feeder or bird box for your garden. Follow the link above for further advice and information.
|
English We know that Amelia Earhart mysteriously disappeared but what do you think happened to her? Can you write the next stage of the story? |
Science Follow the link for the RSPB's Big Garden Bird Watch. Watch the video and read the information. Take part in the 2021 survey and upload your results.
|
Art Using either natural or recycled materials can you create a 3D sculpture of one of your favourite garden birds? You may find it helpful to do some sketching and drawing of birds first. |
Geography and Maths Do some research into the migration routes of particular bird species. Can you calculate how far they travel. What natural and man made land marks do they use to help them know their routes? Use the link above as a starting point.
|
Sketching Use the bird identification sheet or go outside and sketch some British garden birds in real life. Think about scale: how big are they in relation to other birds? Markings? Texture? Can you draw just a small section of the bird in greater detail? Perhaps focus on an eye, or a feather.
